They seek him here, they seek him there,
    Those Frenchies seek him everywhere.
That paragon of pace and guile,
    That damned elusive Jackie Kyle.

    RIP

Legend is an abused term. Not this time.

I love the photo of him with BOD from '09, something always gets in my eye every time I see it.

Nice article about him (from last year) here.

    RIP.

Everything you read and hear tells us he was one of the true greats.

A sad day for Irish rugby but equally he lived a life to be celebrated and not just as a rugby player.

RIP to the legend that was that demned elusive Jackie Kyle.

A sad loss for Irish rugby. He seemed to be a lovely person, a true gent, and a wonderful player.

BBC showing some tributes before the start of tonight's match, and also apparently doing something at half time.

Years ago when I was young, event my dad would always point out an elderly man by the name of Old Wesley legend Austin Carry, whom he said was the best rugby player never to play for Ireland. I asked my Dad how come he never got capped for Ireland and the answer embedded its awe into me.

    Jack Kyle.

    May he rest in peace.

He led some life, quite an innings you could say.

    Fair play to the man.

Heard his name go down in legend as an absolutely brilliant player but never knew he spent 30 years in Africa as a doctor and a surgeon. A remarkable man I imagine.

Austin Carry did get 2 caps for Ireland but yeah it would have been much more only for having to compete with Jack Kyle at the time.

Oh I found out over time that he did; the essence of the story still resonates for me, and indeed you too :) Thank you for the reply, BTW.

  • Am too young to ever have seen him play but absolutely everything I've ever heard about him is that he was a fine player and a real gentleman. RIP.

WRU honoured Kyle along with aussie cricketer Phillip Hughes before their game just now with a minutes silence

England's rugby union didnt, bit disappointing.
