Not sure if this is the right Forum...

But looking for recommendations for a hand held device

Whats the general opinion on the best one to get.

Depends what you need it for?

And are you talking about current gen like 3DSXL or Vita? Or retro handhelds?

The Vita is fantastic but you'll need PSN access as very little is getting a physical release there any more.
The 3DS is a cracking device though, huge catalogue of great games, access to the entire catalogue of DS games and the digital only stuff is similarly stocked with brilliance.
There are great deals on Vita at the mo, certainly they are cheaper than the 3DS while the Nintendo machine is soon to be replaced with the new 3DS with the little modifications, so if you can wait for that, in the new year, do that.
Otherwise there is the cheaper option again of the 2DS, all the gaming goodness of 3DS but without the 3D effect, and they are a nice console with a lovely Pokemon edition available around now.

My top 4 handhelds of all time are:

    1. Original Gameboy. Never actually owned one but played friends ones a lot.
    2. Game Gear. Probably not a popular choice but we had one. Was an amazing machine for its time.
3 Neo Geo Pocket Colour. I only got one of these a couple of years ago and what a great find. Some amazing games and unique joystick/dpad type yolk :pac:
4 Vita. I know its very new but even though I've only owned it what 2 years at this stage I've got more use out of it than any other handheld I've ever owned.

In its own right its massively overlooked probably mainly due to the 3ds in fairness being a superb system also.

As a remote play device I think it could have been improved upon with two shoulder buttons both sides and still dont understand why they didnt do this but anyway its still helped me play a huge amount more gaming than if I didnt have it.

The quality of the screen is just fantastic.
The two thumb sticks actually work nicely and in general I'm in love with this system.

All I ask is that we eventually get a sequel to Gravity Rush. Would love to see them put it on ps4 actually. Can only imagine the graphics!

That's incredibly cool and I'd say will be hard to get and a good one to collect.

    Ngage...

But seriously, been playing my atari lynx a lot lately, great handheld, robo-squash is great fun, paperboy a faithful atari port. A guy over on the lynx forum on atariage is trying to put together a multicart for it too, that would be great
