    Hi all.

Looking for some recommendations for florists/flowers.

We got a quote the other day from Frogprince which was over €2000 which is well over our budget.

Now their price did include quite a bit of decoration in the venue itself but even at that, it seems alot.

The bride bouquet was €120 and BM's were €80 each. What we were looking at was by no means big either, size wise the brides would be similar to the below.

    Cabbage-Rose-Bouquet.jpg

Are these the types of prices we are looking at?

Before anyone says it, we wouldnt feel in any way comfortable doing bouquets ourselves nor do we have anyone in the family that could so thats a non runner unfortunately.

Any suggestions welcome, feel free to PM!

    :)

If you don't want the room decoration a normal florist will charge you quite a bit less than frog prince.

I was quoted €450 for 1 bride bouquet, 5 bridesmaid bouquets, 5 flower girl bouquets, 8 groomsmen button holes and 2 thank you arrangements. Florist was D15.

That is a very good price January. Businesscat you can easily do then ceremony decor yourself with bay trees, lanterns and organza pews (if you didn't want to go down flower route) and get a unity candle display done up if you need one for a religious ceremony.
The bouquet style you have chosen is fab and very very easy to do if you are anyway crafty! But for €450 that is a great deal :)

Ya, I was looking at a few places online that rent "props" and what not but tbh the prices Ive seen are still dear enough plus you have the hassle of getting them to the church, setting them up and returning them so what we would save money wise wouldn't really be worth it.

Ive found one online that has an all inclusive package for €1200 so I emailed her last night to find out exactly what that entails.

January, would you mind popping me a PM with that persons number/website please.

    Thanks guys.

Have a look on FB at Flowers by Lesley. She is in Tallaght as far as I can remember. She did my sisters and they were gorgeous and very reasonable. Lovely girl

Ideally steer away from florists who have a shop, and go for a flower arranger/ designer who specialises in wedding flowers. By going with a florist, their costs include their rent, overheads, all their greenery, etc. My Mam is a wedding florist (based in Kilkenny, so perhaps a bit too far from you although not sure if you mean your venue is City West or that's where you are getting married?!), and she would charge a lot less than that, and her stuff is amazing (I'm biased, but if you ask any of her former brides, they'll say the same). She keeps prices down by doing the work in the garage at home, growing all her own greenery, some of her flowers and sourcing everything else direct from a wholesalers. She also owns a lot of props (bay trees, churns, arch, lanterns, vases, candelabras, etc.) that she reuses and doesn't extra charge for.

January, that quote you got sounds amazing! Hope the quality is up to scratch!

When asking for a quote, it won't be dependent on the amount of stuff you want, but on the type of flowers you want. If you go for flowers that are easy to get or in season, then obviously it'll be a lot cheaper than going for unusual stuff. If a florist quotes you without asking what type of flowers or arrangements you want, you can be pretty sure she will be using the cheapest of everything!

Sounds very expensive for bouquets but then if the flowers aren't in season etc they will be more pricey.. €2000 then well it all depends on how much they are doing... I remember getting prices before and thinking now most defo too pricey but it does take an awfull lot of hassle away from you doing it all...

All depends on what they are providing for €2000...

We ended up getting pretty much exactly what we were getting from Frog Prince but for about €800 cheaper.

Has anyone used Green Art in Aungier Street? The stuff on their site looks lovely and reasonable but just wondering what the service etc was like

Am I the only one who worked off the "this is my budget, can I have all the things I want" method?
