    Hi all,

So im 6 months away from finishing a Higher certificate in culinary arts course. (2 year course) I have work on the weekends to carry me on until I finish. I not sure if they will keep me after. Anyway, when I finish I want to try and get work in a hospital, prison or nursing home kitchen. But im not sure what qualifications are needed.

So anyone with any info could help me.

    Thanks.

I think it varies, but most commonly a Culinary Arts/ Professional Cookery qualification, relevant and up-to-date certificates in Manual Handling, Infection Control, Food Hygiene and HACCP, and again often garda vetting (I would imagine especially in prison service). If you look at the hospital websites, usually there is a contact for catering dept, I would phone a few and see.
