    Who are we?

Sydney Irish Rugby Football Club was founded in January 2012 and was given its name to recognise the cultural identity of the clubs founding members. It is recognised as a club that welcomes everyone and provides an instant support network for people with an interest in Rugby Union.

We have adopted the Irish culture of being friendly and employ Ireland’s ‘Land of a thousand welcomes’ reputation to attract our members, whilst building a community based club for people interested in playing and supporting rugby. Since beginning the journey we’ve picked up members from all corners of the globe.

Sydney Irish Rugby Football Club is currently participating in Division 4 of the NSW Suburban Rugby League with three teams. We also have a number of mixed teams participating in Sydney’s Oz Tag League.

What is the objective of this Post?

The majority of our players travel to Australia on a Working Holiday Visa which entitles them to stay here for one/two years. Due to this we do have a higher than normal turnover of players each year. We are currently recruiting players, coaches, referees and also social members for our 2015 season. It’s a great way of meeting new people in such a big city so far from home. If you or any of your friends are looking to travel to Sydney in the New Year or already here, they are more than welcome to join our club.

We had a very successful inaugural year, fielding a 1st grade team, 2nd grade and on occasion, a 3rd grade with our 1st grade team achieving great success by winning the Grand Final. In 2014, Sydney Irish fielded three teams and played in Division 4. Players interested in trying rugby but who have never before played are more than welcome. We had several players on our 3rd grade team who never played before last season.

Very best of luck with it, I have a few family members heading in that direction in the new year who are interested in rugby, I will suggest the Club to them.

    Edit: Great Crest!
