UFC Title strugglers

There is a bunch of UFC fighters which in my view will never hold the title, despite their endless hard work due to a number of reasons such as age, bad luck, timing etc.

I will list off a few below, but basically I feel sorry for them.

Bisping my main example, I dont really like him but he fought so hard for so many years, incluing many top 10 fighters at LHW. He has the best cardio going, but had such bad luck with eye injury, and being beaten by Vitor (who was eventually banned for TRT)

Bisping in my view should at least get to fight Anderson Silva before he retires as he wont hold the title ever, especially with Weidman on top.

Other great fighters who are destined to never hold title, but will always sniff it = Faber, Cerrone, Benson Henderson, Matt Brown, Cub, McGREGGOR

Phil Davis will be one I'd say, a top guy but he wont be able to beat the champ

Vitor wasn't banned for using TRT. At time he was entirely within the rules to use it.

Benson was the previous LW champ.

Urijah Faber in my opinion is one of the best fighters never to become a UFC champion. He'll probably get another shot before he's finished, hopefully he can get the job done.

He's unbeaten outside of title shots which says it all really, gutted for him because he's one of my favourite fighters. Just always seems a step to far!

    Condit
    Vitor
    Machida

They may have had belts before but unfortunately can't see them holding any again

Urijah Faber and Michael Bisping were the first two fighters that popped into my head upon reading the thread title.

I like both fighters and in the case of the former, I'd say he'll get a shot again. Would be interesting if he was facing off against Dillashaw too.

Paul Daley (for getting generally shafted by the UFC). He actually had a bona fide chance of being the champion.

Until he lost to Josh Koscheck of course.

    Oh, Josh Koscheck!

When he beats Lima in feb hes going to get back into the UFC imo, still one of my favorite fighters and it was great getting to meet him earlier this year when he was on the Siam Muai Thai card down in cork, he believes he will be back in the UFC at some point to.

He punched Koscheck WAAAYYY after the bell. That fight also proved he wasn't anywhere close to being the champ

McGregor gets away with calling people Nazis, Bisping gets away with spitting at people, loads of fighters seem to get away with taking performance enhancing drugs (Sonnen, Belfort, Siver, etc.), he should not have done what he did but the lifetime ban was too much, everybody makes a mistake at some stage. Ask yourself if Jon Jones/Conor McGregor did it would they be banned? Not a hope in hell.

    I wouldn't count out Machida.
When be decided to wake up he beat the living crap out of Weidman.
The Chris's chin is sick though but he was clearly punch drunk in the post fight interview.

I think he's going to embarrass CB Dolloway down in Brazil and I'd like to see him fight Cockhold or Jacare or ViTRT next

Fighters that don't ever have a hope of getting or regaining the title include Bisping, Shogun, Junior, CB Dolloway, The Diaz brothers, Gunni, Dennis Siver, Cub, Maldonado, Lineker, Tom Kong Watson, OSP, Brad One Punch Pickett, Bruce Leeroy, Michael Johnson, and Cathal Pendred.

Agree with all of this, Dana seems to be coming around though and I'd be fairly certain if he beats Lima he will have a really good chance of getting back in, id put money on it if it was possible. Would love to see him fight Diaz again!

Yeah I don't know what Machida done in the first two rounds but once he opened up man did he let lose on Weidman, but you said it yourself he has one hell of a chin!

I'd be happy to have him back in the UFC and Dana seems to have softened his stance on it, but to say he was shafted by the UFC is a stretch imo. Completely his fault

Are people forgetting that, directly before punching Josh Koscheck after the bell, he got soundly beaten by Josh Koscheck? He missed his chance at the belt because he lost! Not because he was an idiot after the bell!

Paul Daley is just a bad egg to be fair.

Comes across as a right toolbox in any interview.

Calling people names on twitter for a joke is nowhere near punching somebody from behind after the bell. It's ridiculous to even compare them.
PEDs use is also against the rules, but it in no way makes Daley's actions any less scummy.

Whether or not he deserves to be persona non gratia for life is debatable. But it's a situation he got himself into. And not the only person to face similar.

Ryan Bader fits this, well maybe a step below this looks to own the old Keith Jardine LHW Gatekeeper spot.

Rory MacDonald has potential to be the one who is a up there but losses at the last step also.

Donald Cerrone, hope I am wrong on this, he looks so motivated and exciting at the minute.

Dustin Poirier looks like he might be a gatekeeper

Urijah Faber is interesting, will he fight his buddy who managed what he failed to do?

Miesha Tate can't see it happening.

How the hell is Rory Mac a title struggler?
He has been absolutely annihilating the competition and only lost to Lawler in a razor close split decision and many think Robbie is the best welterweight in the world right now

Daley was completely outclassed in that fight and showed completely no class after the bell.

I think the reason the UFC/Dana were so strict is because they were trying desperately to distance MMA from a thug kind of reputation that it had(has still in some opinions) and this damaged the sports reputation. This fight was prior to the fox deal and a lot of mainstream advertising that has come along since.
