I'm looking at insulating a suspended timber floor. The house was built in the 1950's.

What is be best way to insulate the floor? I'll be doing all the work myself.

    My options are

    1) rockwool
    2) sheeps wool
    3) rigid foam insulation sheets

what depth have you to work with?
Don't forget to keep the subfloor vents clear & to tape/seal the vapour/air-tightness membrane below floor boards.

What Brian said...maintain the floor vents...

What's your access like to beneath the floor?

    First suggestion would be....

Rigid Rockwool/Xtratherm in between floor joists, membrane for air tightness on top of insulation, level with top of joists, ply board it for protection then floor it with whatever is final material..
