Hand in notice without signing new contract

    So im possibly changing jobs

    I have got an offer in principle but no contract or seen figure on paper. The recruitment company want to speedup the process so are pushing me to hand in notice before i see contract or even signed

    Im not comfortable as when i ask salary im told " its what you want". Tne recruitment consultant is really pushing me to speed up the procesx even though tne company has took amonth to get to this stage

    Should I

    personally i have on always insisted on taking all the variables out of the equation before handing in notice
    ie - passed medical, contract signed, references checked confirmed, background checked

    imo - madness otherwise

    Follow your gut instinct. You obviously have reservations, so DON'T do it! Wait until all the i's are dotted and t's crossed. If they are putting you under unreasonable pressure now, ask yourself if you really want to work for them.

    Absolutely do not hand in your notice prior to having a firm offer. If the recruitment agency are so interested in speeding up the process then they should get a contract on the table quicker

    Recruitment Agencies are basically sales jobs, they sell you to the employer and then get paid, they don't really care about you - from what I've seen anyway.

    Don't hand in your notice till you get a contract in your hands! I do not trust recruiters at all!!

    The point of handing in notice is to leave a job. In this case you wish to leave your current job for a new one.

    You haven't seen a contract for the new job yet, so you don't have anything to leave your existing job for.

    If a company really wants you, they'll be happy to wait the extra week for you to start.

    Don't risk it giving notice before seeing a contract.

    I'd go so far as to tell the agency the above, I've done it in the past and it turned out to be the company stalling, and it certainly moved things along

    Read your own post OP and be realistic about the advice you would give someone else if they posted.

    You don't have another job offer until you have a contract in your hand. End of.

    Don't pay any heed to the recruiter, they won't pay your wages if the job fails to come off.

    Their role is to get the best applicant for the employer. It's not their job to look after your interests.

    That's your job.

    Never hand in your notice without getting a copy of the contract, signing it and returning it to the new employer. It's coming to the end of month and your recruiter is trying to hit their monthly target. Thats all they care about. Trust your instinct and wait until you have seen everything.

    Christ no, are you mad.

    Even when you get the contract, wait a few days to ensure its what you want.

    As everubody has said, dont do it, your dealing with a middleman whos just going to shrug his shoulders if the whole thing goes south. They just want there cut and you to take the risk.
