Hey I am just looking for a little help from anyone with some IT knowledge..
I really want to get my boyfriend a present of a tablet for Christmas but I do not need to get him a high spec one as he will only use it for basic stuff..
There are so many on the market it is so hard to know which is good.
Has anyone any suggestions for a brand or even a specific one that they think is good? I would be very grateful for the help...

Does your boyfriend currently use any Apple iOS, Android devices at the minute? I know you mention "no high spec" devices but many cheap tablets will be slow and be frustrating to use, so it may be better to pay more for the Google Nexus, Samsung Galaxy, MS Surface or iPad tablets to name but a few. I have tried two cheap Android tablets (€200-240 price range), and they vary from being very slow to completely unusable at times. Not ideal when the whole idea of a tablet is "pick up and go"
Another problem particularly affecting cheaper Android devices is the lack of software updates, something to keep in mind as well.
