I want to buy a 8+1 seater car (Renault Traffic or Fiat Scudo) but how do I get an idea of insurance. I need to know roughly what insurance will cost to see if I can afford the car but insurance companies need details of vehicle ...but I haven't bought any yet??

    Thanks

Find one on a car sales site (adverts.ie/donedeal.ie/carzone.ie) etc, and plug the registration details into the insurance providers websites.

Though, for most, you don't need the exact details and can simply input the make/model information and get yourself a rough quote.

How long do they hang onto the quotes for usually?

If you have gotten an official quote with a reference number for the vehicle that you Are insuring, they usually hold the quote for a week or two.
