Getting rid of 'dead wood'

Started a game with Villa (FM15) recently and tried to get rid of Given and Bent in pre-season but could not shift them; even for free or on loan with very little wage contribution. I wouldn't mind holding onto them as squad players but their £50k + wages are killing my budget. Neither of them were interested in finding a new club and nobody show'd any interest in signing them.

Has anyone else found it difficult to shift players in general? Any tips of wisdom that may help:confused:

Do you have a Director of Football?

You can tell him to sell for value, half value, any price

generally its easiest to use a director of football to shift the lads you no longer require
only problem can be if a club comes in for them and offers less wages the play will only agree to move if your club agree to pay some of the wages until his original contract expires, your director of football will agree to this automatically,so just bear that in mind

Set them for release, after a few weeks they're gone
