My poor little FX 8350 seems to be getting hot under the collar playing BF4 and I was going to take off the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 and clean it and throw it back in , but I was never really happy with the setup and was wondering if it would be possible to get liquid cooling for under €50 ?

Buying a water-cooler that costs less than 70/80 euro (unless on deal) is a complete mistake - Apart from the Corsair H60. Have a quick think about how expensive the components that went into making it cost and would you be willing to trust that in your computer? I know I wouldn't. Just go for an air cooler.

oh , right , I had been looking at the Corsair H55 , these wouldn't be good enough , no ?

Crap, forgot about the h50 and h55! That's be fine if you're just going to be using it for a mild overclock etc. However, may I ask why you'd choose a watercooler over an aircooler at this price point? Aesthetics? I'm just curious. :)

Ok , I'll tell you but you have to promise not to slap me across the back of the head or ridicule me in front of my peers ( I don't even know who my peers would be , but thats not the point ) .

Because of my setup the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 sucks air through the fins and blows it out the top of the pc , but in sucking it out it is drawing air up from the topside of my graphics card which is warm anyway plus it is quiet loud when running under load and the pc is in the sitting room and the cpu is hitting 65% while playing bf4 . I figured that a water cooler would have the fans and radiator ( I've no idea what you call it ) on the outside so I wouldn't have to worry about any other warm air in the pc and also I'm lead to believe they are quieter .

I'm on a freezer 13 with a 50% overclock and mine still only spins up to about 50%. Maybe upgrade from the 7.

What it sounds like though is that you have a general airflow issue, not just a CPU issue. More slower fans > few faster ones. What you want to do is plan your cooling so that airflow as a whole is good. Can we get a picture of the rig? Why is you CPU cooler vertical and not horizontal. The norm is to have cool air in the front, into cpu and sucked directly out the back by the rear case fan. With sucker GPUs this also works as they take in cool air from the front and pump it out the PCI mount fins.

If theres a need to do things vertically I'd try and exhaust the GPU out a door fan so that there's cooler air in the middle of the case for the CPU to draw in.

It's more a problem with my mobo and the fan fittings fitted to it , the fans will only go on facing up or down , not facing across , well that and the fact that I thought liquid cooling would be quieter .
