What are these like? Anyone driven/owned one, might have the GTi sold and was looking at one of these.
I'd imagine it's not as quick but I've found an SLine one that looks in good nick for a nice price. I'm sure they could be remapped to reasonable enough power too.

Cheaper to tax too at 570. What are they like MPG wise?

Hadnt planned on selling the GTi so soon but got plenty of interest and everything is for sale at the right money and I wouldn't mind a change, it’s also about to turn 100k miles so I don't think I’ll get this kinda money again.

I could also buy a newer GTi mk5 maybe a DSG this time with lower mileage.

My other option would be to go balls deep and buy a new/nearly new Fiesta ST in 2015 but as I am only on a rolling contract in work, I don’t think I’d meet the finance criteria.

Would that be the same engine as in the FL Octavias?
If so ( assuming it is being 160bhp) those octavias were quicker than the vRS so should be ok. I think the map to around 200bhp easy enough.

How could that be the case? 160bhp versus almost 200bhp? Official figures say it should be 2 seconds slower to 60mph.

You'd be surprised. It's all in the power/torque curves. A Harley-Davidson is faster than a Fireblade off the line and out to about a hundred yards.

I'd be willing to put money on it to be honest! A 1.8 turbo VAG car with 160bhp is quicker than a 2 litre turbo VAG car? Sorry, I'll need video evidence for this one!
Unless Vectra was referring to the 1.8 petrol being quicker than the diesel VRS. I assumed petrol seeing as the OP mentioned having a GTi.

Oh I know, I'm just saying peak power figures in the absence of anything else can be misleading.

    Mk 5 GTi:

There's a good 3 seconds at least between them from 0-100km/h here.

In general that's true alright, but in this specific case I'd be awful surprised if a GTi owner hopped into a 1.8T A4 and found it to be quicker, even subjectively!

I did a deal on it last night. I agree it's not as fast as the GTi but it's nice power all the same, it's not an out an out performance car, more of a cruiser with nicer drivability than a diesel.

I believe the official stats for the A4 was 0-62 in 8.6 and the GTi was 7.2 to 60 so not that much in it. The GTi would be more nimble in the corners alright

A DSG GTI is about 6.7 to 60. And will actually achieve that, unlike most quoted manual times that would require clutchless shifts to achieve.

True, DSG's are quicker, mine was a manual so was just quoting that.
