I think they've realized Farrell isn't the answer at 10. If I were Lancaster I'd play Care Ford May Eastmond Burell Rokodeguni Brown

England badly missing Tuilagi in midfield. It's exposed Farrell's lack of creativity at 10. Plus no "36" beside him at 12. Lancaster has backed him up big time until this point.
I feel a little for Farrell. His confidence is clearly shot and has not been helped by the selections (Eastmond, Barrit) outside him. He is been hung out to dry for England's lack of foresight and midfield selections.
Having said that they now have a better 10 in Ford!

I feel Ford will start with Farrell at 12 Burrell at 13.. We were going in the right direction until this Autumn..
Injuries have destroyed us but it still isn't an excuse we have played really poor rugby, the worst in the Lancaster reign..

In our current squad only 5 or 6 will get in to kick start 6 nations!

    15..Brown
14.Yarde (when back to full fitness)
    13.Tuilagi
    12.Burrell
    11.Nowell
    10.Farrell
    9.Care

    8.Vunipola
    7.Robshaw
    6.Croft
    5.Parling
    4.Launchbury
    3.Cole
    2.Youngs
    1.Corbisiero

I don't see why Youngs, Parling and Croft would make it ahead of Hartley, Lawes and Wood

To be fair any test side would change a bit in two years. The Ireland team that beat Argentina in November 2012 is probably different to the current side. For a start Craig Gilroy was the star that day, now he is probably fifth choice at best.

They are very very good rugby players.. 3 British Lions!

Listen its a toss up and will go on form obvo .. But IMO if all are fit and firing tats who Lancaster will pick...

Youngs and Croft offer so much more pace in wat is a very slow england pack..

Hartley shouldn't start big games for England, he's certainly their best hooker but he's a sinbin (or worse) waiting to happen.Give him 20 minutes at the end, it's less time for him to do something stupid in.

Lawes has to start if fit. Don't understand how they stick with Hartley, so many pens every game. Always thought England needed a more complete 10 than Farrell, he has lots of qualities but he's not good enough at 10, too limited. Will be interesting so see how this management tickets copes with the first consistent pressure since taking charge.

Hartley is a very good hooker, but he just can't keep out of trouble so shouldn't start IMO. Re 10, I think they have to start George Ford this time.

Lancaster under pressure this weekend, so it'll be interesting to see how England cope.

Glad Ireland don't have another bruising encounter coming up.

A lot of players are Lions but it doesn't make you automatic first choice, Wood and Lawes have served Lancaster very well and Hartley is simply a better hooker than Youngs imo.

Also Burrell and Nowell were available but released to their clubs ahead of the Aus game so I don't think they're at the forefront of his plans.

Both back from injuries.. This game is too important to blood in players tat aren't 100% fit..

As an english fit i am excited to see Burgess play for Bath on Friday night hopefully!

No I don't think England will win either. And Oz will be hopping mad after last weekend

Only one winner here. Too many players in white just not up to it at the minute.

On a related note, I see Sam Burgess might make his debut for Bath tomorrow. Mike Ford saying he'll play in the centre. England would be a completely different side if Manu and himself were to form a partnership.

Yep, 4 point favourites and all. I actually meant can't above.

I think everyone's overrating Australia here. Their pack a fair bit behind England's. They played well against Ireland, but they still lost. They were pretty poor to lose against France too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,817 ✭✭✭corny

I've been impressed by the Aussie pack in all 3 games actually. France threw the kitchen sink at them, they weathered it and finished strongest. Against Ireland, they outmuscled us in the contact countless times. Their scrum went well against us too.

If England had Lawes, Corbis and Cole you might worry for Australia in the scrum but i think they'll hold their own. Its no contest in the backs.

Can't believe England are 4 point favs.

Ah they were poor against France. lineout went very badly IIRC, several scrum penalties and were consistently knocked back in the collisions, especially when they had the ball.

Sounds like what happened Ireland against Oz. I think Australia will win this, they have learned from that game that a loose free flowing game cannot be played for the full 80 and that was a vital lesson as Cheika highlighted after the game.

I think we WILL win today... we ran NZ and SA close at the end of the day.. Its not th end of the world for england.
Far from it.. We will beat them up front with Youngs and Ford pulling the strings.. I might be more hopeful than realistic but I'm looking forward to this one!!

Hard to know. Oz made some mistakes against us last weekend, but they will be raging at the loss and will be really up for this match today.

    Get in!!!!!
I was the only one who taut we'd win but then again i am english.. But a really good performance by our forwards yes?
The aussies are a good side but they haven't got th forwards to compete with us... Marler has been immense this Autumn .. Should be a great 6 nations next year with th irish as the clear favourites..

I doubt you were the only one, Aus had lost two on the bounce and not many teams win in Twickenham. In fact we're probably favourites for the 6N because we don't have to go there this year
