    Hi
I'm going to Birmingham in February for Aston villa match my husband is a supporter ! Have hotel and tickets sorted
So next whether to get a flight or ferry

If I get ferry is Birmingham far to drive from Holyhead how about bus or train

As for flying I guess bus/train/taxi east to get to Birmingham centre

    Thanks
    Caroline

Fly without a doubt, into Birmingham International, train from there to Birmingham new street, then bus to the ground.
If I recall you can get a daysaver type ticket that covers bus trains and metro. Which I think is less than a tenner which covers 2 adults (link below might confirm)

A couple of links to help

    Forgot to mention
Its a good 2 hour drive from Holyhead, and train from there isnt cheap or quick.

Where as flying into international you could be off the plane and at the ground within the hour

Oh and Villa are crap :D

Closer to 3+ hours tbh, Fly is obviously better but if you get the ferry you can then get train to New street station which is in the heart of Birmingham city.

OP, just so you know when checking train timetables.. the railway station beside the airport is on the mainline network and is called 'Birmingham International', it's connected to the airport passenger terminal by a (free) monorail train. The airport website says that there are seven trains an hour to Birmingham New Street.

Ryanair fly to Birmingham from €20 return so definitely the handiest and cheapest way to do things.

Flight is the sensible option and it's probably cheaper than the boat too. How long are you staying in Brum? There isn't much to do in the city centre, fyi.

I live in Waterford so I can go Waterford Birmingham no problem, then at B'ham airport get the free air link to the rail station, get a ticket into Birmingham and I have never waited more than 10 minutes for a train, just ask which is the next one. 15 minutes or so into the centre of Birmingham. Easy peasy.
