Garmin edge 500 cadence sensor timeout

Has anyone else noticed that the Garmin GSC-10 cadence/speed sensor that mounts to the chainstay tends to timeout and stop transmitting?

I've noticed it when I've used the Edge with my DH bike. Before starting the day's biking I'll press the little rubber reset button and it flashed red/green and then is registered on the headunit just fine. After a few minutes it stops registering and I've to hit the little button again. I've also had it stop transmitting mid-cycle, when I was going downhill and no longer pedalling. When I'm off the bike and checking the sensor, it does flash correctly for the passage of the magnets on both the crank and the spoke. After a while it stops flashing but still sends signal.

Both of the Garmin speed sensors I have display this behaviour, and I'm wondering if anyone else has seen the same?

Yeah I've noticed the same recently, have changed the battery, reset the sensor, reset the garmin itself but still cant figure it out!
