I might be buying one of these as a gift for someone.

The 2012 version is 90 quid on expansys.ie (by the way, are they reliable)

The 2013 version is double that.

I have a 2012 myself, is there much difference?

I have the 2012 version and with the new lollipop update, it's very slow, apps are unresponsive and crash frequently. See discussion here: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056715420

Ok, I will avoid that update then, thanks!

I bought one off expansys. I was very unhappy with the service. It arrived without all of the components and it took a month, NUMEROUS calls an emails to actually arrive at a place where I had a tablet and a charger. I bought it for a child and it is fine for that purpose - better than leap pads etc and cheaper than iPads. If it runs out of battery I have to connect it to a laptop to get it to boot up again and the micro usb charging port is dodgy with the cable falling out easily. It is what it is. I don't regret buying it at this stage..I only have for a month though.

Yeah, I have read bad things about them online, mirroring your comments. I will avoid, I think.

Have the 2012 since its release I still think it's really good tablet consider it's age .
Haven't come across any issues with 5.0 at all certainly hasn't slowed down since it was installed .apps work fine I'd say most apps having problems just haven't been updated for 5.0 is might be causing some issues for some
Have had no major issues at all over all .

Mine has seen heavy usage since day one and it hasn't let me down at all

    Difference between 2012 and 2013 N7
2013 has a HD screen and a new rear camera and slightly different design but overall there isn't enough in the 2013 to warrant the upgrade imo

this is still a pretty good device, it is starting to lag a bit, but its the best tablet you can get for under 100 quid

    I just picked up a 32GB 2012 model on adverts.ie for €65 with a case - mint.

Did a clean install of the 5.0 lollipop factory image - no issues so far. It's like new.

I've had mine for almost 2 years. It was great until about 6 months after I got it when the screen started giving me problems- freezing, going haywire, glitching and the touch being innaccurate and clicking on stuff over or under what I wanted to click on. It didn't happen too often for the first while but gradually got so bad that I had to have the screen replaced (under insurance) a few months ago. Big mistake. It has been even worse since and I have already decided to buy myself a new tablet after Xmas. I'm raging because aside from this problem, I absolutely love it but would not buy another one.
