The American remake is quite a mixed bag, to be honest. Some people really took against it because of the season 1 finale. Good acting, certainly. Solid plotting? Less so. Overall, it's a frustrating experience.

    Try the Danish original.

    Defo the Danish version.

Nothing like True Detective at all.

I haven't seen the US remake but can definitely recommend the Danish original. Great stuff IMO. I completely binge watched the first season.

Yet to watch the Danish original but don't watch the American version. The finale in the first season was a big fcuk you to the viewer. Never been more angered at a season finale than that ending.

I watched Season 1 & 2 back to back and I enjoyed it. Jumping straight into season 2 after the season 1 finale completely negates the main complaint about the finale. It is a bit erratic and far fetched in its whodunnit roundabout and the pacing/plotting and it's not a patch on true detective (as are most shows tbf) but it's still worth watching. It's dark and depressing and the two lead characters are an interesting match. Also the resolution at the end is worth the journey. I definitely don't regret watching it.
