    Hi,

Want to get my parents a freesat box for Christmas. They all say they can use existing sky dishes. My parents never had sky, just cork multichannel. Is it worth signing up with sky for 12months and getting the dish off them?

are they currently with cork multichannel now upc?

whereabouts are they? i suspect they have mmds so no they can't use the existing aerial.

Best bet is to sign up with sky through the car phone warehouse deal which i understand has been extended till the end of november.

yeah, that deal is good to December 4th and they get a tablet, which would be handy.

they're near Whitechurch, about 10 minutes drive from Blackpool, I was being optimistic with the dish, they're not with them for about 2 years now i'd say.

They're a nightmare to Christmas shop for cause they never want anything

    your parents have the mmds.

My parents had mmds but took up the CPW offer.

There is a much better offer where you get free install and half price sky for 12 months. You don't get the tablet with that offer though. but the half price offer might be better. As they are in whitechurch could you pop up to the mallow branch of CPW thats where my parents did it and then cancelled their upc.

    No.
Because a Sky dish is mesh (Perforated really) and poor life. A decent dish is solid. A year's Sky costs more than an install and a Sky box out of sub is crippled compared to a Freesat HD box.

8 to 10 years ago getting sky for a year was worthwhile, not any more. If you are any good at DIY and a view from rear to South East you can self install, Dish only needs to be high enough to have view to SE at about 22 degrees elevation.

    The MMDS dishes don't work.
