    Lazy people stay lazy
    Drinkers stay drinking
    Gamblers keep gambling
    Promiscuous people keep shagging
    Fat people keep eating

I say all this cause I've sen another marriage break up as he wouldn't give up his weekend golf.
Every Sunday morning he leaves her with the 3 kids then normally stays for a skinfull.
Thing is this was always his way, he works all week & it's his blow off, he's the doting husband Monday to Saturday but would never give up his day, even when the kids came along.
She thought by marrying him she'd change all that, he didn't even budge.
She gave him his ultimatum & it only made him more belligerent.

I've often heard women thinking they'll change their partners once they're married but I'm yet to see it happen.

Have you never heard the old truism:

Women marry men hoping that they'll change, but they don't. Men marry women hoping that they won't change, but they do!!

Why would I bring that woe upon myself?

Plus I'm sure the Ladies of the Lounge are mature, reasonable adults like the ladies in AH.
Unwilling to cry havoc and let loose their true and final form upon hearing of a hard working husband playing golf for a couple hours on a Sunday.

It's her own fault for marrying someone who wasn't what she wanted.
She wanted a version of him that was not him.

It's the kids I pity, limiting a childs relationship with their father/mother because of something like this is absolutely despicable IMHO

Then again their 2 sides to every story.
Are you giving us all the details?
    Whats you opinion on it?

Can't teach an old dog new tricks, I have heard many many stories similar to the above, but people aren't gonna change overnight, woman can be equally as selfish or become much more controlling when they get married, its a hard one to call frankly!

    Assholes remain assholes OP

Sometimes you need to change yourself to meet new circumstances rather than been changed

She divorced him for playing a game of golf each Sunday? What the fcuk is wrong with people?

Yer man sounds very selfish to me, leaving his wife to look after the kids all day Sunday while he goes playing golf and drinking. When's her day off, eh? Could he not cut it down to once every 3 weeks or once a month?

I hope she at least took herself off every Saturday morning and came back the worse for drink in the evening.

    Seems reasonable to me.

Golfers are a terribly dull bunch.

Yeah yeah, women should do all the changing... What a dickhead. She can't go do her former Sunday stuff, because this plonker wouldn't even meet her halfway in going to every second sunday. What did he even want the kids for in the first place? So his wife can be his free skivvy for the rest of her life?

Feck that. Let him live in his miserable cold flat scraping whatever is left over from maintenance, all on his own if he can't participate in the family... Enjoy your golf, muppet.

If you love somebody enough you will want to spend more time with them and its inevitably ends up making changes to your life. When kids come along, it changes more. Its about compromise and both parties need to budge and make changes.

Maybe his golf was more important to him than his wife? I mean, it's only natural that he'd get sick of hanging out with the same person every bloody day, forever, no? But golf is the gift that keeps on giving.
