Americans or/ and the British. They were using our system as a test subject before rolling it out world wide.

But Symantec is a US Company that also does a lot of work with the US Government

I'd say there is enough Tech companies and other multinationals here to make us a legit target for this type of thing rather than just a test subject.

I bet €1000 it was Israel

Ireland in the top 4 for this virus being used against due to the present of Google, Microsoft, Facebook and the like due to it being the European HQs for these companies and their data storage.

They said it was being used against small business, so surely that rules out google and stuff

Probably the US or the UK. Neither of them are on the most affected countries chart.

    It's quite obviously Israel.

    Anti-Symantec

They're just like the little scuts who hang around sports-fields asking if you want your car protected while you go to a match, if you don't pay up then they'll damage it for you.

Then you'd probably loose, a safer bet would be the Chinese, who have a lot more form for this sort of thing.

According to anything I've read it has all the signatures of the stucxnet virus which came straight out of Israel.

That one did, with the purpose if destabilizing Iran's plutonium enrichment programme, corporate espionage however is more of a preoccupation of the Chinese state, Israel has enough innovators that it doesn't feel the need to steal intellectual property.

It was said on the radio that Microsoft's hotmail was targeted by this spyware.

Like all other threads in AH recently it can only be Irish Water no ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,080 ✭✭✭ireland.man

Well I hate to admit it but the first thought that popped into my head was Israel too. Well done to the Israeli embassy in Dublin for promoting their country so well in the minds of Irish people...

Anyway, maybe it's another jump to conclusions but the The US has much more of a history and capability in producing these sorts of things than China, despite what the media slant would have us believe. I wonder will there be any Snowden-type revelations in the coming years that'll show this.
