    Bosch Classixx 1000 Express WFL2066GB.

On spin cycle smell of rubber burning. Initially thought problem was bearings, but have ruled that out now. Took it apart. Inner and outer drums not rumbling or no excessive up and down play between the drums. No excessive knocking or banging.

Anyone any ideas on the source of the smell other than bearings?

Can you run it with the back off....see if the drive belts are off centre, maybe they're heating up.

take back of look at motor when running for sparks

also look at the belt is it good

if theres black dust its carbon from the motor

see if the drum rubs against door seal

if so change the drum spigot support

some bosh have brushes some don't on the motor,if they do they might need changing

Thanks for the replies people! Much appreciated.

    1) Belt looks in perfect order and is centered and moving cleanly.

    2) Will have a look for sparks from the motor - some else one mentioned brushes on the motor needing replacing: would this cause a burning smell??

    Thanks again:)

A cracked tub support can cause it to rub on door seal on spin, does door seal look rubbed in anyway.

    Thanks for the help people!

Brushes in motor are well worn (down to about 5mm left on them).

New brushes ordered and on the way.

Please cross your fingers for me that this was the source of the burning smell.

Will let you all know how it goes.

    Thanks again:)

brushes are not the problem, as B/B said its the drum spyder/shaft assembly thats the problem, one of the three arms of the assembly has a hairline crack allowing the stainless drum to tilt forward and rub off the gasket causing the burning smell during spin
