    Hi,
Trying to replace a single gang switch in the living room with a 2 way dimmer switch.
The switch I bought only has L1 and L2 and the Common has no metal connection in it.

There are two switches in the living room controlling the light - but I am just replacing one of these with the dimmer.

There are three brown wires in the existing switch to Common, L1 and L2.
How do i wire these into the dimmer with just L1 and L2

    thanks for your help

There should be 3 connection points on your new dimmer for this to work. Make sure you get a 1 gang 2way dimmer.
