One day - pay?

    Quick one for a friend.

He was offered a job, and accepted. He started yesterday. The boss decided after an 8 hour shift, that he's not attractive enough (it's a sales job, so I guess image is important to them or something), so decided not to keep him on.

Is he entitled to be paid for the day of work? Apparently they're ignoring his request for pay at the moment.

Assuming everything is as you said above he is entitled to be paid.

Question... Had he radically become less attractive since his interview?

    :pac:

He was only given a phone interview, then offered the job because he came across well.

I'm assuming it's all as i said, I'm just relaying wjat he said to me through text.

I'll let him know. At least a day's pay is something. Thank you

Yes. Tell him to get Citizen's Information to call the employer, I'm told they're pretty good in these cases.

If its commission based, expect him to get nothing if he sold nothing.

Least he only wasted 1 day of his life working their, could of been a year and been let go so he got lucky I suppose, boss sounds like a dick to be honest if what he said is true.

It's not commission based, it's minimum wage.

Yeah, if he's correct (which i can find out easily because i have connections in the business), well, better off out of there

    On what grounds?

Can you give us links to similar cases? Or to where it says that discrimination on the basis of physical appearance is unacceptable?

Driscrimination based on looks is not illegal.
