    Anyone use these guys http://www.donedeal.ie/tractors-for-sale/engine-reconditioning/3293878

I`m down hp on the old tractor, lots of blue smoke so rather than trade it in I`m wondering is it worth getting the engine done. Everything else on the tractor is 100%
Would I have to remove and refit the engine myself ??

Know john well. Does fanrastic job ye can even tell by how tidy the shop is kept and laid out that he's a good operator.
We have got him to skim heads on jeep and tractor and flywhell always done a good job.
I'm not sure if you have to take out the engine yourself.
Neighbor here takes out engines and puts them back in sometimes for him but don't know if he offers that service all the time
    Does do top class work

What does he charge for an engine and what does he do exactly?

    New bearings and seals

I think if you have an otherwise good tight machine then it's money well spent.

However, I've seen engines done in machines that just don't justify the spend.

Not all as it seems with this chap. If there is someone else near you doing this type of work use them instead.
Had a close shave with this fella back in 2010. Spent 3 weeks waiting for him to collect an engine. Luckily one of his staff left the cat out of the bag. Got a local crowd to redo the engine. Would stand over their work regardless of warranty. Apparently hes getting work all over the country. Will beat any price.

i priced him for a recon back in 2010 for a ford 5000. he was going to take my engine out and put in another one charging €2500. I was afraid as I didn't know what engine he would be putting in. I knew the engines in 5000s were either very powerful of lazy so I decided against as I knew there was fierce power in my engine for the hp and instead got the local mechanic to recondition it. I think he sends them to murphy recondintioners in cork or some crowd. ended up costing €3000 but worth every penny. will do any job its asked to even agitating slurry.

Cant fault Murphys. They did an engine out of a MF 50HX for me. Upgraded a Perkins 4.236 to 4.248 spec. Had pulled out engine cleaned it and stripped it down while messing with Roberts. Got a bit of cop on and rang Murphys. Took it up to them on a monday evening and had it back ready for assembly the following Friday. Told me injector pump was in a sad state. Cost around 3700 by th time I had it fitted, rad repaired and a few other bits and bobs replaced. Best moneyever spent. The few extra horses with the 248 spec make a huge difference. Plenty poke for climbing pit or digging with front loader.

What part of the country are you in Cuban? If you are midland / north, here's another option for you.

I have used PJ Donnellan in Lanesborough to re-do a couple of engines and found him to be good. I took out and put back engine myself with the help of a polish guy who does a few nixers on a saturday. A 3 cylinder MF engine and a 4 cylinder ford. Around €900 for the MF and €1200 for the Ford if I can recall.

    There's still running anyway!
