Momentum Program Welfare Question

I got accepted to a Momentum program recently which is administered by FAS but paid by the bord of education. I have been out of work just over a year on Job seekers allowance. I have to drive back and forth to college everyday. I am wondering if i miss college some days is there a penalty to my dole being cut or get kicked out of the course. Has anyone ever done a fas course or paid by welfare course and seen if strict attendance is vital. I will do my best to attend all but if something comes up. Thank you.

I did an Momentum course last year and just like you we had to sign-in, every college day we were required to attend.

So to answer your question... short answer yes, your payment can be affected.
But here is the long answer: The college will require that you attend a certain amount of days over the course. Take too many days off and you fail. But these colleges always give you a warning and it's not like they fail you if you took 10 days off or something. They are understandable.
But if you the event you take the mickey, then yes you will fail and then it will be down to your local social welfare officer as to what happens next.
You would be unlikely to lose your dole but it may be cut a little or you will be required to sign on to your local social on a weekly basis.

Word of advice: it's ok to take days off. Just don't take the piss.
Also: yes, people who rarely attended have completed these courses.

Thank you my friend. Since you are here, what is momentum like. Is it good training or FAS style average lectures. I have a higher qualifaction to know the difference. Would you recommend the program. What was the good and bad points if you will.

Well I can only speak about the course I did...
But I found it really good. It helped me open a door to the further education I am currently studying.

But the course by itself didnt help me get a job. But that was not because there was a problem with either the college or course. It was down to the JobBridge scheme just getting abused at the moment.
