Anyone saving money on the dole?

I am currently on the dole, and receive a total of 245 per week.
188 JSA, 37 rent allowance, 20 winter fuel allowance.
For the last 12 months I have been saving 50 per week, so that's a total of 2600 for this year.
I am planning on trying to save even more next year, say 60 per week to give me another 3120 saved.
Have any of you managed to save on the dole?
I gave up driving this year and bought a bike, so that will make it easier to save next year without the; car tax, insurance, NCT, fuel, costs. I rarely used my car after losing my job anyway, so couldn't justify keeping it.
I would like to put away closer to 75 per week, but that is what my rent costs; so I can't see myself keeping it up for the full year.
I have cut down going out to the first Saturday of the month, so that has been a big saving compared to going out every weekend.
    Any other ideas?

So you get 245 per week, pay 75 on rent, and save fifty leaving you 120 to live on for bills/groceries etc?

How does that 120 break down?

Exactly as you suggest really; 120 on bills/groceries.
I pay my Bord Gais energy bill every 2 months, and boost the Tesco clubcard cash vouchers I get every quarter (around 20) up to 40, so that gets deducted from my electric bill every quarter.
I spend around 70-80 per week on groceries, and go out the first Saturday of the month for a drink.

So, you would rather scrape by than earning a decent (honest) living OP? Sounds like a sh!t life to be honest.

You're a dose. Stop tanting the people. If someone came on here and started blowing about their big salary and how they spend/ save it we know the response they would get. Shush!

If you carry on saving like this for another 8 years or so they will start means-testing you.

Honestly though what are you saving it for??, You must be living a very meager existence to be able to save on welfare. What about buying yourself some new clothes, having a holiday eating good food etc, at the end of the day life is for living and scrimping and saving whilst on the dole will not enhance your life one iota.

I feel it would be far more beneficial to you if you put your time and resources into looking for a new job or think about retraining or up-skilling to better your chances of getting a new job, that way you will create some sort of future for yourself without having to rely on welfare.

    Obvious troll is obvious.

Btw, you could try selling a kidney or eating only noodles. And don't forget next year you'll have your free €100 for your water

If saving money is the name of the game, why not do as our past generations did...

A 10 kilo bag of potatoes costs 4 Euro and you could live off that for a whole week, cutting your grocery bill down by 66 Euro a week.

Learn to cook and you'll more than halve that.

That amount on groceries per week is taking the piss for one person

That's a serious amount of food for one person, unless you are giving into temptation and buying extra rubbish that's in your face in every supermarket.
