I was made redundant in November 2013 when my company closed down, i just got a new job that i started 2 weeks ago. for 39 hours work for the week i got e365 before tax, i was then taxed PAYE e41 PRSI e14 and USC e25 for a total of 80 euro taxed... is this normal or did i get emergency taxed? i used to only really work part time/ some full weeks in my last job but this is proper full time. just seems like way too much to be taking for that low a wage.

Its very hard to say what tax a person is supposed to pay as everyone can have different allowances, credits, etc.

What does your payslip say - under tax rate, it should read either be E (for Emergency), W1 (for week 1) or N (for normal cumulative tax). Did you give your new employer your PPS number. Best thing initially is to ask payroll office. If employer hasn't got you registered with Revenue, you can ring Revenue yourself and get them to assign your credits to the new employer. you just need new employer's registered number. see attached to see which Revenue office you need to contact.
