I have about 4 days at the end of a trip in Bangkok. Anyone have any recommendations of places to visit outside of Bangkok. Like history, temples, nice scenery that kind of thing. Would be willing to overnight somewhere for one or two nights.

Also, is there much to do in Bangkok culture wise?

    Thanks

Bangkok has more temples than you'd get to in 4 months. The national museum is excellent. Jim Thompson house, Grand Palace, Chinatown etc. etc. etc.

Ayutthaya is a good day trip option as rodge68 said.

Plenty of info on all the above online.

As above, would recommend Ayutthaya and Jim Thompson's House

    Kanchanaburi

2 hours from Bangkok. A nice town with lots of history (Bridge on the River Kwai, the Death Railway, war cemeteries, museums, etc), and plenty of things to do around it such as rafting. Erawan National Park is a must see too.
