Phone buyer wants IMEI no. up front. Any risk?

Have a phone sold on Adverts, doing the deal at the weekend. The buyer wants me to send him the IMEI number beforehand so he can organise the unlock code. Now there seems nothing fishy about this, or the buyer, but I thought I'd best check first in case there's some IMEI cloning scam that I'm not aware of. Any thoughts?
