Tax Relief on Tuition Fees

Quick query. I am submitting an application for tax relief on tuition fees. I pay my fees in two installments (once in September and once in May). The form says the first €1375 of each claim will be disregarded. Does this mean those who pay in installments will be penalised, by having €1375 disregarded on two claims, rather than paying all fees in one lump sum and only having it disregarded once?

I think it's the first €1375 of each year's worth of claims. So you shouldn't be penalised for paying in installments.

Although it's a few years since I've claimed this, so not 100%

OP its disregard the first €1,375 if its a part time course. But its disregard the first €2,750 if its full time course

I don't think you are able to claim this year because the amount if fees you are paying in this tax year is below the threshold. Next year you will be able to claim because you'll be paying the half charge twice (that's assuming you are going back to college next year).

You're probably best to contact revenue just to be on the safe side.

Is there a minimum threshold? I paid 3.5k in September.

Yup saw that, it's part time (only way to fund it!) :)

I don't know much about this but the OP says that the first €1375 is exempt.
