    Thought's on his new album? It's really nice, self-reflective ( per the norm with Rice) and represents a progression on his earlier work. Gave it a few listens and really liking it now. Colour me in/ Greatest Bastard favourite tracks so far.

    Don't most artists deal in self reflection through their music? Anyway brilliant album. Took me a few listens to get really into it but all eight songs have managed to worm their way into my head. "It takes a lot to know a man' maybe slightly outstays it's welcome but all in the album works despite most songs being longer than the usual four minute standard. Last song 'Long long way' is gorgeous.

    How they go about it is what matters. Rice generally come across as self absorbed. Which is obviously different to self reflection.

    I agree with your first sentence and for me he goes about it in the best possible way if you're a music fan. He writes fantastic melodies and brilliant songs when he wants to get stuff off his chest. An hour spent listening to Damien bending my ear in a pub telling me all his woes= painful. An hour spent listening to Damien through music telling me his woes= magical.

    You could argue Eminem at his peak was self absorbed but at the end of the day who cares as long as the music delivers.
