Need to know the name of a song I heard on Radio Nova

It's a punk or power pop type song from the 70's or 80's. It has a trumpet or sax playing a really strong repetitive line through it that you could sing along to something like Geno by Dexy's Midnight Runners only faster.

The song is fast and aggressive and there is a hint of Ska to it.

I thought I would find it on the web with a search but it is eluding me. I'm kicking myself I didn't turn Shazam on.

It's like finding out the name of a song in the 1980's all over again.

Have you checked for playlists on the station website, OP? Or drop them an email and ask?

Look and listen through the music from the day you heard it here, it has the last week, good luck finding it otherwise... http://www.nova.ie/listen-back/

Just going on a hunch here: Was it The Beat - 'Mirror In The Bathroom'?

Thanks for the replies. It wasn't a full on 70's/80's ska song by the likes of Madness, The Beat, The Specials, The Selector or any of the Two Tone bands but it sounded like it was from that time. It was more a punk song and very fast with a brass ska like hook.

I might drop Nova a line if it keeps playing on my mind.

I'm dying to find out the answer to this!

I didn't hear it or anything but based on the OP description I would hazard a pure guess at The Teardrop Explodes - not certain of the name of the song but the chorus goes "its time I learned to accept, my REWARD!.....dah dah daaaah, dah, dah, daaaah.........

    Good thread

If the OP doesn't find out, or doesn't tell us....

    Maybe it was.....

Haircut 100 - Love Plus One

Clarence Clemons & Jackson Brown - You're A Friend Of Mine (tune)

Or an old Nova classic that my money is on. Men At Work - Who Can It Be Now
