In Cork area and I know you are not allowed recommend a therapist here.

How do you go about choosing one? I have checked out a few and they all have necessary qualifications. Anything else I should be looking for??

One seems to have free parking which would make it handy for me! That is about all I can think of!!

It is impossible to make a choice? ie you just have to take a chance and see if you get on so to speak.

There's some advice in the sticky How to find a Therapist which you might find useful.

For a start, there are lots of different kinds of counselling/therapy, and the ICP has a brief introduction to each. (You'll find links in the sticky.)

Does one kind of therapy seem to call to you more than the others? Does one kind have a particular evidence base in treating your particular problem? What are the relevant bodies that accredit that approach and are local therapists accredited with the relevant body?

Ring a few and have a chat with them. Ask them about how much experience they have, have they come across this problem before, how might they treat it, what are their hours and fees - and do they have parking handy. I would always say ring a few and chat with them, you'll get an idea of what they're like and you can pick the one you felt best.
