IOS 8.1.1 for 4S and iPad 2

I'm a 4S and iPad 2 owner who had no intention of upgrading until I installed ios 8. The software significantly slowed both devices down, causing me to constantly reboot and get angry I didn't leave well enough alone. I reluctantly accepted that these older devices just couldn't handle the new OS. My arm was being forced into upgrading due to incompatible software.
Well I just downloaded 8.1.1 and it seems to have done the trick on both devices. Definite improvement. I'll now be upgrading on my own terms, when the time is right.

I just installed it on my iPhone 4s which was running ios8 and I still think it's painfully slow, did you make any other changes to speed it up at all?

Nothing more. As I said, it's an improvement in my opinion. But I was finding these devices almost unusable before today's update.

Same here. Nary a blip or a freeze for years on my 4S and then the upgrade to 8 was making it slow, glitchy and prone to app crashes.

Downloaded the 8.1.1 update and 99% of what ailed my phone is cured.

I don't think that the phone is too old to handle iOS 8, I just think that it wasn't optimized for the 4S and the latest fix goes a long way towards rectifying whatever was wrong with the coding.

Irish Times app and What's The Phrase still unusable mind you.

I have an ipad 3. It's been painfully slow and annoying since I got ios 8. I updated to 8.1.1 and no difference at all, no improvement.

I actually still have an ipad 1 in the house that's used as a reader and browser by someone else. Safari still zips along on it whereas on ipad 3 it crawls and stalls and is incredibly annoying. I might make a video of the difference because it is quite startling.

Ipad 2 was dying a death since iOS 8, update has made a huge difference. Much snappier and not crashing as often.

My 5s flys along on ios 8.1.1 as it should do, the young lads ipad mini was pretty slow on ios8 prior to this latest update and it now seems very smooth.

We've also two iPads here, an ipad2 and an ipad3 both are still on ios7 where I think I'll be leaving them. My wife's 4s is also still on ios7 as I had heard that they were terrible after the ios8 update, so she never bother updating. That's actually for sale now and I plan on leaving it on ios7 unless the buyer requests it to be updated.
