Ireland's Soccer Kickers Score Four Netbag Touchdowns

Watching the highlights of the Ireland USA game from last night was interesting. I get that cultures are different, but when the camera focussed in on USA fans celebrating the 1-1 conversion, they act all 'hostile' and I find it very exciting. Pointing at the camera going 'in your face!!!!" That kind of thing.

Irish people need to be more like this. Mocking and arrogant - it would lift our national self-esteem I think.

We've enough attitude problems without importing them.

I do not see this as a problem. It is actually more healthy than constantly fretting over what Johnny Foreigner thinks of us.

Nothing is more obnoxious than this Orish mentality of going up to foreigners and asking '"sure aren't we great all the same!" like so many RTE and TV3 types do constantly.

I agree OP, virulent displays of aggressive nationalism to mask a crushing defeat are definitely the way of the future.

Is a thousands drunks slurring 'you'll never beat the Irish' after losing 3-0 to Boratland any better?

Well, we won 4-1, which says a thousand times more than any mocking or arrogance ever could.

Yes I'm aware it was a home friendly against the USA, but a result's a result.

Always associated American soccer fans as smiley and wearing Uncle Sam costumes. Just happy to be there. That's the way they seem at competitive world cup games, yet they act confrontational at friendlies! They havent really twigged this soccerball yet.

The last time I was in the US they referred to international friendlies as international 'rivalries'. Makes it sound a tad more edgy.

    Yes.

Almost anything is more appealing than aggressive nationalism.

I fully approve of half time concerts & cheerleaders on the sidelines for Irish soccer games

Considering that the video linked has been removed, this thread makes no sense to me.

It's already getting that way with the stadium announcer, pyro and cringeworthy dancing mascot Wille Wolfhound.

I think the U.S. are right to be so cocky and arrogant, how many Soccer World Series have Ireland won? None. How many have the US won? All. Of. Them.

Far better record than Ireland tbh.
