    Hi,

I'm fed up of this Paul Murphy and his Anti campaigns. I listened to him on Prime Time on Mon night and it wouldn't be that often I'd agree with anything that Gemma Hussey has to say but she called him a bully and I think that's exactly what he is.
Brendan Ogle is another guy who is anti everything. He started off (in the media!) as the guy who set up the Irish Locomotive Drivers Association because he didn't want to be part of the NBRU and wanted to be treated differently. He held the public to ransom with the threat of strike action. Same thing when he went to ESB group of unions: the threat of power cuts loomed large last year and this year. Now I see he's the front man in some other Anti water organisation.

I thought we lived in a democracy: we have a right to vote for whomever we want to represent us. Mob rule is not democracy and holding protests to stop people going about their work or whatever is not acceptable. Peaceful protest should be a show of numbers etc. who support whatever cause happens to be in question, whether it be Irish Water or any other bone of contention. A peaceful protest does not have the right to disrupt law-abiding citizens from going about their daily business. If there are enough people in a show of numbers on a protest, it should be enough to get the message across.

The people who organise these protests should be responsible for the actions of attendees at the protest and shold provide stewarding etc. or whatever is necessary to ensure that scenes like happened on Saturday cannot happen. Mr Murphy was on the radio just today launching another Anti something and when asked would be apologise to the tanaiste, he said 'No'. So, in his eyes, it's perfectly acceptable for him to go around organising rabbles to take the law into their own hands and treat fellow-elected politicians to physical and verbal abuse. This is not democracy; this is mob rule; I, for one, don't want any part of it and I'm sure there are lots more out there who feel the same.

We will get our chance to cast our vote when the next election comes around. Everybody then has a say on whether they want new representation or agree with the present shower. Isn't this a better way than being "led" by a rabble forcing people into submission/ stopping them doing their job/ going about their daily business?

I will be paying for water when the bill comes because I think it's the right thing to do. Anything you get for nothing has no value. If water meters make people think about how they use water, then it can only be a good thing. How many people here brush their teeth and leave the tap running while brushing? If we're not metered, why would we bother turning off the tap?

    Before you start:
I'm not in any way connected with Irish Water (other than a user of water)
I'm not in any way connected with the Socialist Part (and will be keeping it that way :pac:)
I'm not in any way connected with any other political party/ grouping
    I'm an ordinary working-class taxpayer
    Failed to load the poll.
