I wonder if anyone could clarify this please. I noticed that on ie domains registrars "person" is usually listed as a generic name, for example "Lets Host Domain Services" instead a full name. Can we do the same for the companies too as we would rather use "IT Department" or similar instead somebody's name on a public record?

    Short answer
    No
The domain name has to be registered to a person or entity and the whois record has to show the name of the admin contact(s) for the domain name.

The registrar data is the "billing C" and some of us have switched that to something more recognisable than a person's name
    Eg. Blacknight.com Hostmaster
