I bought an item of a seller on a website, paid with paypal. Item never arrived the day the seller said it would have and they have mislaid the tracking number.
I entertained the seller for another couple of days as package may be delayed in post and seller would have found tracking. I emailed seller again and they said post is slow at the moment and allow another few days.
I opened a paypal dispute which i have now escalated to a claim and the seller has added a tracking number that is not recognised. They gave a tracking number.
Im not too sure what to do now, do i comment and say tracking is not valid or sit tight?

Tell PayPal it's not valid. It should only take a few days for a parcel to arrive. Even from the UK it can take only 2 days for a package to send. There is no reason for post to be this slow. Christmas online shopping hasn't really started yet

I see no option to correspond paypal, at the moment my only two options are to cancel the claim or change the reason.
It says "The seller has responded to our request for tracking information. We haven’t confirmed the tracking information yet but wanted to share it with you" does this mean tomo a person for paypal will check this number and offer up another option?

If it was sent through an post then it should have definitely arrived within 2 days and all of their tracking numbers follow the same format of 2 letters, 9 numbers and 2 letters at the end, ie RL123456789IE.

can you not change the reason to "tracking number provided is invalid" ?

There is no option for this, just the two already mentioned.

In the case it is on the 4th stage where it says Requiring your action but when i put the mouse courser over it more info saying:
paypal requests more info from the buyer to resolve the issue. If the buyer doesnt repond within the allocated timeframe, we close the case and restore the funds to the rightful owner.

I see no where i can input a message to paypal or do anything, appreciate everyones replies so far thanks. :)

Don't remember exactly - do you have an option to reply (respond to action or sth.)? Use it, mention fake tracking number.
