    Valium.

I'm on day three of taking a 10mg first thing in the morning before a coffee and then half (5mg) after work.

My days are going wonderfully and I'm finding the pangs along with everything else to be pretty easy to cope with.

    Thoughts?

No wonder your days are going wonderfully if you're taking Valium twice a day :pac: but that can be really addictive too so you'd want to be very careful. Especially if you're not getting them on prescription

    Sounds dangerous!

I'm getting cravings. I just accept them and move on. The dosage is high because I've been messing about recreationally for a little while.

A valium addiction is much much easier to get over than cigarettes.

I AM NOT A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL. IN FACT, QUITE THE OPPOSITE. THE POINT OF THE OP WAS TO SHARE IDEAS FOR REPLACEMENT THERAPY ETC AND POSSIBLY BECOME MORE INFORMED ABOUT VALIUM ADDICTION.

Not casting aspersions, I'm just saying that approach wouldn't be for me.

I used a tablet called champex, it worked brilliantly

    Sorry that should read champix

A few of my friends have successfully used it too although the side of the box listing the side effects made for grim reading.

I'll take "Makes the process like a warm sunny day. WARNING: May cause heroin addiction." over "Might work. Warning: Will cause severe mood swings"

It's a pity you cant really have a pint while on either though.

Benzos like valium are extremely addictive (speaking as someone who was prescribed them and ended up addicted).

I'd never consider self medicating with such a scary drug.

Tbh, I think you should go speak to your gp. What you're doing isn't healthy, and that dopey, don't give a damn feeling will end once your body gets used to 15mg a day.

What were the withdrawals like and how long did they last ??

Mate took champix. He's off the smokes now, but said it made him really depressed at the time.

I'm not allowed Champix because of a mental health issue, but I've heard that it can do that all right.

    Think I'll stick with vaping!

I was afraid someone would say something like this.

I doubt arguing “you had an underlying condition” will get me very far here but I took 5mg every day for about 6 weeks and came off them fine. T’was a little ratty for 2 days but nothing compared to what quitting cigarettes would be like.

Generally speaking, how long it takes for nicotine to leave your body? How long does it take for cravings to dissipate to an unnoticeable level (without the aid of valium)?

Valium is a highly addictive drug. Have you ever considered e cigarettes?

    I think it's two weeks?

I think you are about right but cravings can bite anytime for a long time after. Its nothing to do with still being addicted, its everything to do with the more encompassing aspects of smoking. Physically, Nicotine is gone after 48 hours.

I'm still off them, no regrets, always happy to see others take the plunge.

    Good luck.

So the withdrawal from valium is really unpleasant and may put you back on the cigarettes.

    I've made a mistake.
