Can I receive Social Welfare while I am repeating a college year?

Currently I am repeating the third year of my degree as an external student, which means take the exams I failed and I can't attend any classes. I was also receiving a grant but obviously I am not getting it this year. I was just wondering am I entitled to any kind of Social Welfare for the remainder of the college year as I am doing nothing? It is also worth noting that I have no job nor am I receiving any other kind of payments. Also when I do pass this year can I get the grant again?

    Thanks for your help.

Did you speak to the Students Union about a hardship grant?

No, but would they be able to help under my circumstances?
