The ebay one looks good, seller with many sales and still high feedback.
    Ask about warranty.

Further down the listing it says 10 year warranty..
Must be too good to be true...

    Hi

have you thought about a visit to a breakers yard ?. Remember to leave the DI cassette in a veritcal postion overnight before using to allow the oil to drain back down linky.

    regards

I think I'll not risk a used one. might bite the bullet. 290 notes plus vat here in cork from fmautos saab specialists ..

The trionic management is really fussy about which DIC and spark plugs to use. Use only oem NGK BCPR6-ES11 (11 stands for a gap of 1.1 mm, wider than normal). They should be changed very regularly and worn plugs may cause error codes for misfire and will also affect the detection of engine knocking. If in any doubt they should be changed first.

If you're looking a second hand DIC the Rev TK3.7 are the only good ones. But they all are hit and miss as they only have a lifetime of maybe 100 tkm. In my opinion a new original part is the only one to go for. The china cassettes you listed seem to really bad as in may fail after only few hundreds of kilometers or even straight from the packet.

Any cassettes for less than what Neo/FMautos charge are bound to be non-OEM ones. I think the list price is almost €500 from oreo (orinal saab parts supplier) now.

The only time both my Saabs let me down was DI's. The last time was my wife's 9-5 estate and a new one cost €400 at the time. Are you sure the one at 290 +vat is genuine?

definitely genuine from fmautos , with a warranty . he's the only indo Saab specialist in cork as far as I know.

It would be genuine if it is from FM autos but try the ford dealer in Bandon. They used do SAAB parts.

Sorry for thread hijack but seems to be some in the know regarding saabs here, I have a 9 5 and got orange engine light a while back. A friend read codes (but not with tech 2) and said it looked like they were pointing to a fault with DI cassette. Light hasn't come back since and running fine.
My question is are there any other tell tale signs this is on the way out, don't want spend that much without being sure but don't want to be left stuck somewhere.
2007 LPT with around 90k miles

Easiest thing is if you have a friend with another car and you clear the fault code and borrow his DI cassette for a few mins. It is very easy to change them.

If it works you are laughing. There are a few lads on here with SAABs who might be able to help you out.

Just to uopdate .. My auld fella is living in New York , he picked up a new and genuine one from carquest for 250 dollars , so I'm sorted. Manufactured 44th week of 2011! Better than bandon fords 472 plus vat !

Great result OP. The latest OEM cassettes are now manufactured in China (the 9-5's engine is still manufactured in China) and are apparently as good quality as the earlier Swedish made ones. However, having read forums, there are loads of "fake" ones around that can be really bad so no point getting one. There was a time when the OEM cassettes were on short supply and some dealers had to stock the others. Results were not great.

My own car suffers from intermittent CEL and I'm waiting the inevitable to happen. Normally the engine just fails to start one morning. I have a spare "just about working" cassette in the boot as a spare. It takes about 5 minutes to replace one on the road.
