So if you've a digital tv tuner in your car, what actual use is it in Ireland? What channels can be picked up?

All of the terrestrial TV and radio channels. Why you'd want bog 1 and bog 2 in your car is beyond me though :D

Presumably you'd just stick with TG4, TV3, RTE Newsnow etc.

The digital tuner and I'll pick up whatever could be picked up in that area on a digibox. For much of the East coast and border areas, that will include de UK channels (provided you have a compatible tuner). My car has an analogue tuner and I didn't bother upgrading at switchover. That being said, there were times it usefully kept the niece and nephews quiet.

DVB-T isn't really designed to work while moving around, its on different channels per region and you need to rescan when you leave the area of one transmitter and pass into another.

E.G. I have my DVT-T receiver for my phone and when I change cities I need to switch to the Channel Group for that City/Region.

    Might get annoying.
