Flat roof porch

As the title states I have a porch at the front of my house with a concrete flat roof. The ceiling is in particular bad shape so I am planning on battening with 2x1 and slabbing with foil back slabs this weekend. (Reason I am using a 2x1 is I am caught for height due to window frame)

    Questions are:
1should I put polythene between the timber and the concrete ceiling.
2 should I insulate between the battens or is this a waste of time as there is no heat source in the room and is just a porch.

    Thanks in advance

You would get more benefit from putting the insulation on the outside., but i appreciate that is not what the issue is..

I presume by Foil back slabs you mean insulated plasterboard.

Polythene is used as vapour barrier. Vapour is warm moist air, that condenses on cold surfaces.

I doubt that you will have much in your porch, but either way, the vapour barrier has to be on the inside, or warm side of the insulation. Foil generally will be on both sides of the insulation, so it does the job for you.
