Career Change

I'm wondering if anyone out there could offer me some advice on how to change career to an economist/ economic analyst type role.

I'm currently a qualified accountant but it's never been the dream job. I have an MBS in Economics but 8 years ago when leaving university all the opportunities were in accounting for me. I did try apply for some ESRI type graduate roles etc but didn't get called for interview despite a very good grade. I think the problem may have been a lack of quantitative subjects in the course I did but I'm just speculating.

So now I'm looking at trying to get switch to a career that I would find rewarding. One thing I'm considering doing is applying to do a PHD next year in economics with UCD or Trinity. Obviously this would mean a big lifestyle change.(!!) If there is anyone out there that could give me some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Not too sure about how you could go about it, perhaps as you suggested do a course, part time. Talk to recruiters. I would always recommend going for the career you like.
