    Hi guys,

I'd appreciate any help on the following. I have an interview with a pharmaceutical company for a chemical operator's job. I have been told that I will be asked competency based questions.

Can anyone give me an idea, link to a website etc. on what these could be based on & how to prepare?

    Cheers lads. :)

Competency based interviews are fairly standard now in a lot of job interviews.

Competencies are likely to be something along the lines of Team Work, Demonstrating your area of expertise/knowledge, problem solving, interest in company policy , customer service, communication, give or take a couple depending on whether the position involved interaction with customers, etc.
Basically prepare an example of how you can demonstrate all of the above from either your personal life/work experience so far.

    There is no web site,

They ask, show me how you dealt with......

Or explain times when you had to.....

Go to the job description, mark out what they expect and write down examples of how you managed or completed the job,

It's all about finding out how your style fits theirs.

    Good luck

Search for "competency based interview questions"

basically it will be questions around competency's that are in the job desc or required for in the job

eg - in the job desc they might say they are a looking for an experienced chemical operator that has worked in a shift or team environment

    - from that alone you could be asked for example of working as a chemical operator
    - working in a team

    etc

If you dont know about them you need to look up the type of questions asked and more importantly how to answer them
