I am about to exchange contracts on an apartment in Mountjoy square. I was googling to find out more about the regeneration project for planned for the square and came across the fact that a serious sexual offender, Paul Moore lives on the square. Also, the guy who the FBI wants to extradite for child porn websites lived in the same building as Moore.

I know the area having lived during the week in a hotel near parnell square and, as I am not one for being out late at night, the edginess of area doesn't normally bother me too much. I think the area might have potential.

However, this recent discovery has shook my confidence.

I know there are undesireables in all areas, but is Mountjoy square particularly bad?

Sure, he could have done that from anywhere...

I wouldn't say Mountjoy square is especially bad and a fortune is to be spent on the Regeneration project. it will be a more desirable address after that, but I have a few pals living in the area there and they seem to like it

I've walked through that area a good few times at night & while you can meet the occasional "character" it's mostly ok. No harm to have your wits about you as it's not the safest area of the city but so long as you're reasonably streetwise you'd have to be extremely unlucky to have any serious problems.

paul moore, is watched closely by the guards. its some consolation I suppose. He bought his apartment there and wont budge so he is there for good

the other guy as another poster said could have done that from anywhere

Mountjoy square is fine, looking forward to see the park being completely restored to its former glory.

Regarding the 2 people you mentioned, at least you know of these characters. how many people currently on your street do you know or not know?
