    Hi all,

Got Jury service for December in Criminal court, Parkgate street in Dublin.

I was passing yesterday and noticed a lot of bike racks outside. Car parking is hell around there so hoping to cycle in.

Anyone know how safe it is to park around there?

I know theres plenty of Gardai passing but still don't fancy leaving my Dolan DF3 outside for too long.

    Thanks

think of how good an excuse that'd give you for not turning up after the first day - your bike being stolen from outside the court.

You could park it in Drury St bike park and get a Dublin Bike to Heuston Station and walk across from there.

Worked and lived nearby - wouldn't park it outside if it was me. There is a yard at the side on Infirmary Road which may be staff only but maybe worth asking on the first day if you could be given access.

USe an old/less expensive commuting bike for getting around and but a good lock/s. Then you'd be ok in most places. Save your good bike for proper spins.

I used to work in the criminal courts. The thing to bear in mind is that they are likely to have a very high concentration of criminals & drug addicts in and around them. You need to watch your belongings carefully and it is the very last place I would park an expensive bike.

That bike is going to be a scum bag magnet. Anyway you can get public transport - Dublin bikes have a stand a little down the toad on the Heuston side

Cycle to Heuston Station and park there. only a 5 min walk

    Is Heuston safe for bikes?

I regularly see a beautiful old bianci locked outside those courts, maybe the knacks don't realise its beauty and just think its old and only worth two D10s

yard at side is security card access only btw

there are Gardaí around obv but wouldn't think that necessarily makes it safer

On the other hand while there are scobes around but wouldn't think that necessarily makes it less safe

Where do you usually park? I wouldn't park a good bike anywhere in Dublin

Also bear in mind that while, yes, there are many Gardaí around the place, but in common with you on the day, when the courts start working so do they, so they won't be outside to monitor any criminal activity, therefore I'd be inclined to agree with Fian above.

Jury service can be a long day, you don't need that hassle on your mind.

Is public transport an option as that area is particularly well served in that department?
