Can anyone recommend a "stock" Android phone, AKA one that wouldn't be bloated with all the nonsense that comes with, say, a Samsung phone? I'd be looking for one with a decent enough camera, preferably around the specs of the S2?

Don't they have the same camera?

Not the 2013 edition. But the new generation G has a better camera than last year's, though, same MP count as the 5.

There are also the two generations of the Moto X to consider, although not quite as vanilla as others mentioned here.

What about Alcatel? What's the story with them? Heard very mixed reviews but the specs on the Idol look pretty good?

I think any of the Nexus phones would be your best bet. Even the Nexus 4 is still a great phone even though its a few years old. You'd pick one up relatively cheap now.

Going to price a few now, hated how slow my S3 was with all the crap on it!

Last year's Moto G camera is rubbish, everything else about the phone is great.

Yeah the S3 was always a bit slow/choppy from what I heard. The Nexus 4 would be a big improvement there.

Make sure you check out the OnePlus One too. Great phone, great specs, great price.

Or get a popular enough phone (like an S2) and learn how to put stock android on it.

Other than that, Moto G either this years or last years.
