Upgrading the insulation in my 1935 built home, using Knauf earthwool 150mm laying first layer between the joists and a blanket layer at 90 degrees on top of that, prob is that the earthwool is preperfed to split at 380mm out of a 1140 roll but my joists are 270mm, thinking of cutting the roll in its wrapping with a saw at app 280mm giving me 4 strips per roll and carrying them up to the attic still wrapped to unroll and lay up there!!! Anyone tried this? I know its abit of a weird way of doing the job but would it work?

No the way you are thinking is the norm the only thing is to take the whole roll into attic and cut there that will save a
Lot of climbing in and out

Thanks Robbie, glad to hear my idea is workable, the reason I was working on the precut idea was to save my back, trying to cut standing on a board straddling the joists in bad light and a headbanging height of 5ft, I guess its a swings and roundabout decision for me to make! thanks again.

dont forget to put in an insulated walkway from your attic hatch to your water tank
